A Study on the Correction of the Number of Age-specific Death and Life Expectancy

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to estimate the number of age-spe-cific death, which was corrected and life expect-ancy.
The basic data for this study were obtained from the 1966 and 1970 census reports of Korea.
In order to correct the number of age-specific death, Brass method was used, and the life table was calculated by Keyfitz¢¥s method.
The following results were obtained.
1. The irregular trend and accumulation of age-specific death for 1965¡1970 was corrected.
2. Crude death rate for 1970 was estimated at 6.9 per 1000 in total, 7.0 for male and 6.8 for female.
Estimated age-specific death rates are shown table 4.
3. The mortality curve shows that a higher rate is under 1 year of age; It drops to the lowest point at 10¡14 years of age and rises again as age increases.
4. Life expectancy at age of zero shows 62.9 years for male and 66.8 years for female.
